My education began with a Bachelor's of Science in Human Development and Family Studies from Texas Tech University.  I then received my Master's of Science in Counseling from Southern Methodist University.  I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in Texas, EMDR Trained, and RYT 200 in Psychotherapeutic Yoga.

I use a client-centered approach in counseling.  This means that I believe you are the expert of yourself.  Sessions are open, non-directive, and collaborative between us.  I believe in the power of the mind-body connection and often use mindfulness and yoga techniques to alleviate physical distress from anxiety and depression.  I am trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), a highly evidence-based treatment modality for PTSD.  EMDR focuses on decreasing physical and mental distress from memories/negative beliefs about yourself that are interfering with your present-day living.  You can learn more about EMDR at http://emdria.org.

My passion is in supporting clients who are struggling with rigid expectations of themselves/others, healing from traumatic experiences, and in transition.  College, new jobs, and parenthood can present us with new challenges that can often feel overwhelming and isolating.  With acceptance and understanding, you can develop tools and strategies to manage the effects of anxiety, depression, grief, and uncertainty.

When I am not working, I enjoy spending time with my husband, daughter, and dog.  I enjoy reading, doing yoga, and spending time outside.

I am grateful for the opportunity to support individuals of all backgrounds, religions, cultures, sexual orientations, and gender expressions.  I look forward to connecting with you soon!
